- The title could be a reference to the book, The Lonely Hearts Club, which is itself a reference to the Beatles' eight studio album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
- El Pintor is based off of the famous Mexican painter, Diego Rivera, while his fiancee, Himante, is based off of Rivera's wife, another famous Mexican painter named Frida Kahlo.
