Starry Eyes is the twenty-fourth episode of Season 3, and the one-hundredth and one episode overall in Victor and Valentino. It debuted on March 10, 2022 in the United States, and 7 May 2022 in Canada.
Synopsis[]
When Isabela goes missing, Victor and Valentino learn that a mysterious creature has been hiding in plain sight.
Plot[]
Valentino wakes up after having fainted in Another Don's ending. He hears Isabella's voice calling him, though we see he is hearing it, when in reality it's Victor pleading for him to wake up. Val sits up in a panic, traumatized from Isabella's transformation. Don and Xochi are in the cave, as Don asks Val what the two saw. Victor and Valentino recap the ending of the last episode, and Victor makes a comment about Isabella being freaky. Valentino is angered, stating that this monster isn't Isabella. Vic, looking to cheer him up, plays with Isabella's Don skin, but is freaked out by it falling on him. Don removes it and states he knew this day would come. As the four explore further in the cave, they see just how many skin suits there are, Xochi being uncomfortable upon seeing an Amabel skin. The gang discovers a crystal-filled area in the cave, the center having a carving of a mysterious symbol. The kids look around for any clues. Xochi finds undeveloped film, while Vic and Val find photos of their first day in town, which Val reveals Isabella took that picture. Don states the authorities should get involved, but is convinced otherwise by V&V, as they exclaim Tez hates them, so he'd be no help, and that the real Isabella needs their help. The four go to the plaza, in formation, looking out for anyone who could be the disguised monster. Don asks about where Isabella was last seen, and Val replies she left to get mani-pedis with her mom. When Val is asked to call Isa's mom, he realizes...he doesn't know her number..or even know her period. Don, shocked, asks if he's ever been to her house, to which Val nervously replies the two usually hang at Chata's house. Xochi comments Val isn't exactly "boyfriend of the year material" however, Val recalls Isabella told him she lives on Calle Calendula, Amabel's street. Delighted, Xochi says they can ask id she's seen Isabella. Val tries to hurry along to run from the fact he doesn't know Isabella as well as hw thought, though Don stops him and tells the group to stay vigilant, making them uncomfortable. At Calle Calendula, Xochi nervously prepares to knock on Amabel's door. She knocks, and Amabel happily greets her, before being pimmes by her as Xochi asks something only Amabel would know. Amabel is confused, but reveals Xochi once wrote La Bofi fanfics in which everyone tried to date her, causing her to blush in embarrassment as Victor laughs. Xochi nervously tells Amabel she had told her to never mention that in public. Nevertheless, Amabel is not the monster. However, this interrogation is a dead end as Amabel reveals she's never seen Isabella on this street. Val nervously looks for a clue, thinking there should be a clue in the undeveloped film Xochi found. Val suggests they go to Baker's Dark Room, Isabella's first episode with Val. Xochi says Baker wouldn't let them in, though Val comes up with a plan. Don and Vic distract Baker at the store while Val and Xochi sneak into the photo room. They manage to develop the film, however, Baker begins heading towards the room, annoyed at Vic and Don's teasing. Xochi, in the heat of the moment, jumps to attack Baker with a pole, however, Don stops her and says Baker isn't the beast, claiming no one could fake his level of arrogance. The four rush out of The Dark Room. Outside, they look over the photos, revealing rocks placed in a formation at the desert. Xochi, having known the desert from Cenote Seekers, says she knows that place. The gang head over there, and find Miguelito and Gustavo playing. Victor interrogates his two friends, asking if Miguelito's shirt stain is a cave stain, though it was just mole sauce. He jumps on Gustavo and asks something only Gustavo would know, Gustavo replies "Gustavo!" playfully, convincing Vic. Valentino asks Miguelito if the two have seen anything strange, to which Miguelito replies they've just been playing, and gives an example of Isabella telling them last week to move the rocks around to make the formation. At Don's shop, Don looks over the formation photos and realizes it resembles the symbol from the cave. He theorizes it is some form of interstellar communication, the only creatures that communicate with the stars being Tzitzimimes. Valentino replies that the creature they saw didn't look like a regular Tzitzimime, to which Xochi realizes it has been able to walk around in broad daylight, Vic calling it a day-walker. Don realizes they must now be dealing with a "Mega-Mime". Suddenly, Isabella shows up at the shop. Vic and Val rush to hug her, which takes her by surprise. The brothers are filled with tears, filling Isabella in on what has happened. Isabella slows them down, saying she's just been at home getting a haircut from her mom. Valentino questions her on this, since in the last episode, Isabella said she was going to get her nails done. Isabella nervously says that once she did her nails, her mom said she'd do her hair too. This is where Victor starts to feel like something's off..Valentino asks where Isabella lives, which makes Isabella nervously realize Val has never been to her house. She invites him over, saying her mom has been dying to meet him, which makes Valentino blush. Xochi stops him, asking if he's sure, which annoys Val. He claims this is the real Isabella, which Victor questions. Valentino says they don't know her like he does. Blinded by love, Val holds Isabella's hand and leaves angrily with her, Xochi calling out to him as the others look at him sadly. In the desert, Isabella says her mom is gonna be so excited to meet Val. Val expresses that he feels kind of silly now, having felt worried for Isabella's safety. Isabella blushes, then Val holds his hands together as they tremble, traumatized from Another Don. Isabella holds his hand, reassuring she's right there with him. A beautiful moment, as the wind flows and fireflies flutter around, Val chuckles nervously, then apologizes for flipping out back at Don's shop. He begins to vent about how terrified he was from seeing the monster, which visibly makes Isabella uncomfortable and sad. He begins to describe the monster in great detail, calling it disgusting and horrifying. Isabella appears more upset, as her eyes become Tzitzimime-like. Val nervously checks up on her, before she lunges at him, enraged, and roars at him. She sprouts wings from her back and begins to fly away with Val. Thankfully, the others arrive in time, throwing a rock at Isabella and knocking the two to the floor. Isabella runs to attack Xochi, though Xochi kicks her to a cactus. Isabella growls angrily, as she peels off her ripped arm skin, then sprouts spider legs on her back, before ripping off her skin completely, revealing the Mega-Mime again. She hits the floor with a spider leg, before using it to grab a terrified Victor. Xochi runs towards the two to save him, as Isabella lunges towards her and attacks her with her spider legs, which Xochi dodges, however she is then hit hard, throwing her across and knocking her on the floor. Don becomes angry and runs to attack the visibly conflicted Isabella. He throws punches, though misses every one. Isabella gets mad and throws him across. Victor tries to fight back, kicking her on the head, but she has enough of him and lets him go, throwing him too. She approaches while growling, as Val finally stands up to face her. He angrily asks where the real Isabella is. She doesn't reply, simply striking a spider leg at him, which he manages to catch. She growls in anger, as Val pulls on the leg, Victor slides under her and kicks another leg, giving Val the advantage. Val slams Isabella to the floor and approaches. He asks one last time where the real Isabella is, Xochi and Don grab her spider legs so she can't fight. Isabella, failing to free herself, sighs and reveals that she is the real Isabella. Xochi gasps, and Valentino, in panic and denial, says that can't be right, and calling her a monster. Isabella gets up and screeches in his face to scare him. She retracts the spider legs and sprouts her wings to free herself. She flies away, wiping away a tear, as Valentino calls out for her to come back. Don then holds up his codex page about the interstellar formation, as he says that they may be one step closer to eternal darkness, ending the episode.
